Crisfield’s National Hard Crab Derby is an annual Labor Day weekend event. The unique crab themed festival features crab races, crab cooking and picking contests, arts and crafts, vendors, live entertainment, beauty pageants, a parade, fireworks and more.
Events begin as early as Thursday, September 1st with the Miss Crustacean Pageant, and on Friday morning there is a Crab Cooking Contest. Saturday Morning there is a 10K Race/Walk. Lots of things to do and see on Saturday and then on Sunday morning is the 50th Annual Boat docking Competition. If you have never attended one of these, get ready to see quite a show. If you have seen it before, worth seeing again because no two events are alike.
We are again staying at Somers Cove Marina, where they have always treated us well.
There is NO COST to register but you MUST make your reservations ASAP with the folks at Somers Cove Marina (410-968-0925). Ask for Mary Taylor but if she is not available you should be able to make your reservation with any of the staff. Tell them you are with WYA and if you were lucky enough to be on G DOCK last year, they will try to put you on G DOCK again. If you were not on G DOCK before, not to worry, all the docks are close enough to each other and centrally located to all things Crisfield.
We will have a club pot luck on SUNDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 4TH. More details as we get closer but its a pot luck - you know the drill.
